A Bug's Life...
So, it was a miracle this bug made it out alive after its experience with me. I'm fascinated by bugs, but don't quite understand them Usually when I see a bug, I would clap my hands together as if I was smashing one between my little palms. I would also like to say, "Go away bug. Go away" and flap my arms about as if shooing something away. The first gesture I'm sure I picked up from my dad - I've seen him crush bugs with his bare hands. The other thing I got from my mom who is always having to shoo bees away from our back door (one day, she had to escort SIX of them out of the house!). She's nice to bees, but for some reason really does not like a lot of the other bugs. Which was confusing for me when we spotted this skinny, pitiful little lady bug. She had to really talk me out of smashing it. And showed me how to pick her up and hold her gently. And, of course, not step on her. I think it went really well for my first bug exploration. Now, just about any bug I see I like to sit down and have a conversation with them. I often invite them to hang out on my shoe by shouting at them: "Come ON! Come ON!" and gesturing. So far, I haven't had any takers. And Mom had to gently persuade me from picking up the spider on the back porch the other afternoon. Ugh...so many different bugs, so many different rules.....I'm really looking forward to spring! (my mom, not so much)
