Lowell is three years old now. He is full-on action boy and its difficult to keep up with him. He is always talking and always on the go. He will sit down for a couple of favorite movies, but generally won't sit through the whole thing. Usually, he shuts off the t.v. about half-way through and gets on his bike and rides it around the house, or outside, for a while.
Of course, obviously, his favorite activities are: bike riding, skateboarding, playing in his sandbox, "rally car driving" (riding around the yard in his mini-car), playing music, and playing with his friends. And oh yes, he loves to go "swimming." I say that with quotes because he doesn't really swim. He loves to go under water, but he has yet to figure out the coordinated movements to keep him buoyant.
This summer, we've had a small menagerie of various multi-legged specimens that we have collected, then released. Many caterpillars, doodle bugs, snails, june bugs, a lighting bug, butterflies, and a skink. We currently have two black swallowtail chrysalises waiting to finish their pupating. Should be exciting!
Lowell is still large (basically by medical statistics, he is the size of an average 5 year old). But he's starting to stretch out.
We cut off his curls about a month ago. He said he wanted his hair to "look like Pops' hair." If you didn't know already, Pops is bald. I couldn't go that far, but we did cut it short. Now he looks a lot older. :(
We had a smashing good time at his birthday party! Lots of friends were there and Granzy. Pops made a quick appearance. Lowell had originally requested "a new frog party at the Mueller." His exact words. So, the party was held at the Mueller playground by the lake, with bike riding, sand pit digging, water pistol battles, and of course, cake! Lots of little frog cakes that Granzy and I stayed up until about 3:30am completing (with Ian's help) the night before. Lowell was ecstatic the whole day! And he received lots of awesome gifts. We're really looking forward to putting together the carnivorous plants terrarium!
For the record - blogger is slow with uploading and I have little patience anymore to sit and upload for hours. Today's blogging has taken me a total of nearly three hours.
